In the hope of adopting web 3 among users of the social platform, Sony’s Sonium blockchain is partnered with the line to bring four mini-app on-chains in the next few months.
According to a press release sent to Crypto.news, Soneium is preparing to start a series of mini-apps on the line in the next few months. This collaboration opens new opportunities for web 3 expansion, especially in areas where the line is the major digital platform.
By bringing the blockchain-operated application into line, Sonium expects to simplify access to the popular web3 gaming app for users through a spontaneous integration. The firm expected new users to introduce decentralized applications through the line.
Line Japan has the largest social media network, with approximately 200 million active users engaged with platforms. The line mini app builders will be able to benefit from their partnership with Sonium, resulting in community building, strategic marketing and IP cooperation.
In the next few months, the sonium will launch four mini-apps on the line. These mini-apps have succeeded in the web 3 space, through other social networks such as web 3 users and other social networks.
The first app is the Sleepagotchi Lite, a mini-app version of the upcoming Sleepagotchi Sleep Rewards app available on iOS and Android devices. Players can earn points through mini-app which they can take to the main app. It reached 1 million users on Telegram in the first month after the launch.
The second app is Farm French, a mini-game app, which was launched on Telegram in 2024. Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, June Watanbe believes that Sonium’s partnership with the line will be able to run engagement and web 3 in ways that were first difficult to achieve alone for blockchain.
Watanbe said, “The line has created a strong appearance and integrating the successful mini-app in Sonium ecosystem is an next step towards making Sonium more accessible.”
