More than 50% hacker launders of stolen atherium in 7 days

The hacker has already looted more than 50% of the stolen atherium behind $ 1.4 billion bibet exploitation, mainly using thorchain to swap ETH for bitcoin.

According to the Chen’s blockchain analytics firm Spot on X on 28 February, the attacker has robbed 266,309 Etharium (ETH) in the last 5 days at an average rate of 48,420 ETH per day in the last 5 days. If this speed continues, the remaining 233,086 Eth can be completely looted within another five days.

Hacker’s money-laundering rampage caused a record-breaking spike in Thorchen (Rune) activity. Crypto.news reported on 27 February that the daily transaction volume started dramatically from $ 80 million to $ 80 million per day starting from 22 February.

In just five days, the total transaction volume reached $ 2.91 billion, in which Thorchen earned a fee of $ 3 million from increased use. On 26 February alone, Swap was seen breaking a record of $ 859.61 million, followed by an additional $ 210 million on February 27, carrying a two-day total of $ 1 billion.

On 26 February statementThe US Federal Investigation Bureau of the Bureau of the North Korean hackers officially associated the heir. According to the FBI, the Bibit Hack, known as “Traderretor”, is part of a wide range of cyber attacks responsible for North Korean state-provided hackers.

Meanwhile, the forensic investigation by Signia Labs and Verichin confirmed that the safety of the byte remained despite the breech of the infrastructure. A detailed post -mortem of the hack revealed that vulnerability was associated with a safe wallet developer machine that was compromised.

The attackers exploited this machine, which targets the cold wallet of baibit, especially to insert malicious JavaScript code into Ganosis Safe UI. Safe has confirmed that its smart contracts are safe, but the incident suggests that hackers are focusing on infrastructure providers rather than exchanging themselves.

Bybit has launched a website to track the laundering of its stolen funds and is offering a reward for the exchange that assist in recovering the property.
