The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has accepted the 19B-4 filing from the CBOE BZX Exchange presented by 21Shares, which demands approval to the bets ethrium organized within the 21shares core atherium ETF.
On 20 February, SEC Published After reviewing the filing from the CBOE BZX exchange, a statement accepting the receipt of 21Shares’ Ethereum (Eth) ETF staking proposal. If approved, this will be the first time an atherium ETF provides stacking in the United States.
By stateing Ath, the plan tries to enable ETFs to produce additional benefits, which investors will then get. The document states that all stacked ether would be kept under the trust owned by the trust, separated from a model such as Staking-e-Service or Representative Stecking, which have previously faced regulatory protests.
SEC always has a strict policy about proof-of-statual assets. The government classified stacking-related activities as securities under the former chair Gary Gensler, which removed many atherium ETF issues to remove stacking from their registration statement.
But under Trump Administration, SEC has taken a more supporter-crypto stance, formed a dedicated Crypto Task Force and reconsidered the classification of some tokens as securities. According to analysts, a more transparent legal structure for stacking may encourage broad adoption, especially between institutions seeking higher yield options in the digital asset market.
This proposal coincides with an increase in institutional demand for the Atherium Exchange-traded funds. According to the recent 13F filing, the ownership in ETF increased from 4.8% to 14.5% in Q4 2024, while the ownership of Bitcoin ETF decreased from 22.3% to 22.3% to 21.5%. ETH ETF stating is also seen by many as a major catalyst that can promote the price of Eth.
In the relevant development, the recent acknowledgment of registration of Grantyl for SEC’s bitwaise, 21shares, and ripple (XRP) spot ETF took speculation about the widespread adoption of the Crypto-based ETF. Given growing regulatory changes, the next few months may be important for atherium, XRP and other digital assets that demand institutional adoption.
